Sprint Companies Overview
Family owned and Houston based, the Sprint Companies were founded in 1976 by Don Poarch and Joe Swinbank with the opening of Sprint Sand and Gravel. Since that time, the business has grown to include a long list of successful materials, solid waste services and real-estate development companies. From trucking to landfills and sand mining operations to real-estate ventures, Sprint continues to strategically grow by instinctively uncovering new opportunities.
The ability to take slices of knowledge learned through existing businesses and develop new opportunities is the key to Sprint’s success. The companies seek out these opportunities through interaction with customers, listening to innovative employee ideas and utilizing years of experience to recognize the needs in each marketplace.
While operated as independent businesses, each of the Sprint Companies has been developed to utilize the resources available through each other’s services. For example, a developer utilizing Sprint Sand & Clay for site work can also contract with Sprint Waste or Sprint Logistics to handle the removal of bulky material from the jobsite. Once the project is complete, Sprint Waste can provide permanent waste collection service through either its front-load or rolloff collection fleet. The main goal in all of Sprint’s businesses is to work with customers to achieve an efficient, well-managed, cost-effective and successful project from start to finish.
